Titanic acid is an intermediate product of the sulfuric acid method for producing titanium dioxide. Ilmenite reacts with sulfuric acid to produce titanyl sulfate, which is purified, frozen to remove ferrous sulfate, filtered, concentrated, and then hydrolyzed to obtain titanic acid.
